Firefox - CustomLocationX, What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

After reading these two:

I decided to have a crack at cleaning some Firefox portable profiles (with the aim of extending this to Waterfox and Palemoon profiles later). I'm running on a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 and using V3.23.1823 64 bit of CCleaner.

So the experimental line that i added to my ccleaner.ini file is:

CustomLocation1=FIREFOX|C:\111_Portable\PortableApps.com\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile

I added this as the second line in the ini file, just below:

[Options]

However, when i hit analyse and clean, its not looking at or cleaning the directory. What have I missed?

while I don't know for sure, I believe the issue is that you use a "." in your directory name. Try removing it from the foldername in windows.

secondly, off topic, why are you running portable from the system drive, this seems useless

Thanks for that will give it a go. As for why its running locally, at the moment I'm just setting it all up and copying lots of files from local directories, just much quicker to do this with it all on the same drive and then copy it in bulk to my external HDD once I'm finished stuffing around.

For Firefox you're probably better served using the inbuilt sync than copy pasting the way you are.

does CC treat CustomLocationX different to IncludeX in regard to having a dot in a folder name?

i have Include1=PATH|%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\|*.*|RECURSE in my ccleaner.ini and it analyses and cleans fine.

right but, again, includes don't give you much options. Customlocation, like winapp2.ini, lets the user use familiar checkboxes. In the case of customlocation it allows you to use the chrome and Firefox sections (especially database vacuuming instead of deletion) and allows for cookie management. And allows for forks of Firefox and/or Chrome to be cleaned. And it allows for a user to have multiple browsers of the same type and have them all cleaned and managed

finally, unlike iE, Firefox and chrome don't use individual files for cache/cookies/history they use databases that hold all of each type (cookies.db cache.db etc.)
