Firefox Beta 1 is lame

Its not so much that I wan't them to be customizable is that I want them to look right.:P

Their is no reason for me not to be able to make the menu bar on top. Also I want to be able to hide the tab bar when only one tab is open. Plus even if you turn off tabed browsing you still cant make it look right!

WTF

Hopefully they will change this before release. The only thing is that vista and the new office look like they will have this new style too. <_<

Wow. Our's looks totally different. What's that McAfee advisor RR? <_<

Yours looks like this right?(my first shot had tabs turned off to show that you cant get rid of that bar)

I could never use it like that, I need the menubar. It would drive me nuts to always get my bookmarks from the sidebar.

Site Advsior is something that I've been testing lately. It gives you ratings about the sites you go to/search in search engines. I have it on my FF too.

My only issue with it is that it dosnt actually prevent you from going to bad sites. It just changes colors... so if you go to a bad site you now know its bad but oh well too late. Unless you always search sites through a search engine then you could see it before going to it.

Oh and it dosent actually install a program. Its just an extension in FF and a BHO in IE.

Getting back on-topic.

Firefox safe-mode command line:

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 2 Beta 1\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

If you want to start over with a new profile. Just be sure to back up your bookmarks, then refer to the Profile Folder Mozilla KB. There is also a Profile Manager Mozilla KB if you need it. :)

Yours looks like this right?

hmmmm, kind of

I just tried Firefox 2.0 beta1.

I haven't used it much yet, but it works very good so far. No crashes. It is very stable.

The search function now works inside <textarea>'s.

And it also has a built-in spellchecker.

I don't like the new tab system with a close button on every tab, but I found a way to put it back to the classic style used in earlier versions. (using about:config)

E, you can't say that it's very stable if you haven't used it very much, and only used it on one machine. A few minutes of a program working fine on 1 machine does not constitute a stable program. It's obviously crashing on other systems, and therefore, is not stable. It's nice that it's working alright for you though. :)

Thank heavens for that, I hate TAB X, it's so ugly. Just switch off your tabs by centre clicking, what could be easier? I use colorful tabs and to see a bloody big red X in the corner of every one is unthinkable.

You're right. Others have had problems with it. And I shouldn't claim that it is very stable since I haven't used it much. What I should have said is that it seems stable for me, so far.

Now I have had some more time to use it, and it still hasn't done anything unexpected yet. Seems to work good.

Yeah, you can change that, type about:config in the address bar. Now search for "browser.tabs.closeButtons", if it isn't there, then add that. If you put value "3" on it, it will act like Firefox 1.5. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.tabs.closeButtons

Firefox works fine now. Guess what the problem was? Netcraft Toolbar. Go figure. Thanks for your help everybody. :)

Glad to hear you got it fixed. Proof to avoid toolbars. :P

Yeah, I agree...

I dont like toolbars. They don't ring good in my ears...
