I've got to hand it to them for that one.
very proactive.
imagine if it catches on, with other software houses, what would MS (ie), Oracle (java) monthly payout have to be.
be a good incentive to get the pre-release testing squared away.
O.M.G. I just installed Avast and ditched MS Security Essentials. I read that Avast was better that MSE.
@Willy2, better in what way?
I have always tended to install AVG or Avast on people's PCs that were after free AV protection, over MSE, only because of the poor reviews MSE got upon release.
but by the number of qualified forum members here, I'd have no hesitation in using it if the other 2 failed in some way.
PS: it would be nice to see how the Avast Bug Bounty Program is going. Can't find anything about progress on their website, only 2 weeks old I guess.
What I've read, MSE ain't so good. I've been using (and recommending) Avira mostly.
I'd recommend avast! over AVG, though.

Microsoft gets that free.
I've had no problems with MSE. The problem isn't with your AV. It's your pr0n and casino surfing habits. Fess up.
Indeed. No antivirus is 100% safe unless your browser is shielded (no java, adblock plus, noscript, you get the picture...)
MSE fails to pass its own security tests.
In the review I read MSE was rated worst of 6 AV programs.
In that review MSE was pitched against internet security suites which seems slightly imbalanced to me.
I speak as I find, and as part of a layered security approach most av's will do a good job.
