I had a problem when copying video files from an SDXC-Card to my external hard drive. Luckily I was able to recover all the data using the free version of Recuva (after a quick format because Recuva first couldn't recognize the file system).
Now I can open all the jpgs from the camera but the MP4 files (which i desperately need) won't work. They have the proper file size and the correct ending (.MP4) but still I am unable to open them. Recuva also thinks they are in great condition and not damaged at all.
When trying to import to Adobe Premiere it suggests that the files are "not supported or damaged". So I tried using "File Repair 2.1.0.2" to fix the files but File Repair thinks that there is "No data to recover detected" and doesn't write a new file.
Any ideas anyone? Any help would be highly appreciated!!!
Just because excellent chance for recovery is shown on recuva doesn't mean 100% chance of success. MP4 are more difficult than others because a mp4 file is a container for an audio and a video file.
Excellent in recuva only means that currently no file is overwriting the old file at the time. Sometimes they've been overwritten but no longer are.
