if you don't need it, definitely disable it. You will be closing a security hole.

Where do you find this and how do you actually disable it?
As I don't use networking I actually uninstall file and printer sharing along with QOS from network properties.
After doing this there is no "Workstation" showing in services.
I don't advocate anyone doing this as I do keep ghost images as backups and it's just a part of my getting rid of anything XP related that I think I don't want or need.
