Hello CCleaner:
I am a senior citizen and like many of my friends, I use my PC to:
- Send and receive Email
- Peruse web sites that would seem to cover my local news as well as national news.
- Participate in sites like Reddit, Facebook, WhatsApp and other sites that enable me to chat with people
who share some of my interests.
I recently purchased a new Dell PC.
I am not an expert when it comes to using PCs - far from it. But somehow, I recently found myseelf on a site
that extolled the virtues of CCleaner and promised me a free but limited working version for me to try for a
limited length of time. That seemed like a reasonable offer to me so I agreed to install it.
You call it the “OFFICIAL” PC CLeaner and I fell into the misconception that it was a part of the Windows
operating system. I suppose this is not False Advertising but it certainly is very easy for seniors to fall
into believing that it is indeed part of the Windows Operating system.
It may not be False advertising. But it sure does come close to that.
Shortly after agreeing to try a free version, I found that I somehow became a prisoner of this app. I could
not remove it no matter what I tried. CCleaner always started whenever I started my PC and I could not
get rid of it. It felt like I was being held for ransom and although I’m fairly sure that was not the case since you never demanded that I pay for a new version before I could escape, it was a very unpleasant experience and I finally had to pay an expert who taught me how to use Task Manager in order to finally remove this app from my PC.
You can look for me to post some ugly reviews of CCleaner in Redit and I want to leave you with the suggestion
that no matter how useful CCleaner may be and no matter how well it may perform, I can’t imagine ever saying
anything positive about it although I will certainly have plenty to say.
I’m guessing there is a fairly simple way to remove CCleaner from my PC. Unfortunately, my abilities as a PC
user are limited and I am far from knowing how to do that.
