Error in reading file

Hello,

I'v been using CCleaner for years and yesterday was the first time I can remember that I've had a problem. I downloaded the latest version CC5.36 from File Hippo and when I tried to install I got a message that said "Error in opening file for writing". Is this a known bug and how do I get round it please

Let us know if that works for you.

and if that fails, try this;

uninstall your current version first.

then go into the Program Files folder for CC and delete its ]contents (keep the .ini file if you have customised settings).

download the latest build from the link supplied by @hazelnut

reboot the PC

install CC from your downloaded file.

if no luck, try the install with the PC in Safe Mode.

Thank you both. Option 1 worked for me so I don't know if there's a problem with the File Hippo site or their file they're offering. Anyway, problem resolved thank you!
