Error 4

Using Windows 11, and CCleaner version , I get an “Error 4” message when trying to upgrade Microsoft OneDrive 24.226.1100.0004 to 26.045.0308.0001. The OneDrive program itself says it is at 26.045.0308.0001, so it seems CCleaner is confused about what to do with OneDrive.

Hi @regnrand,
Hi All,To help us investigate the issue and understand what may be happening, please generate CCleaner log files by following the steps below:

  1. Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool using the link below: https://download.ccleaner.com/CCleanerSupportTool.exe
  2. Once installed, run the tool to generate the logs.
  3. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID.
  4. Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.

If you run into any problems or have questions, please let me know.

Id is: 4DHB6

@regnrand, thank you for these log files.
Please could you also send me a screenshot of the error you are seeing.

[NB: It will take 5 replies, since I have five images, and the system only lets me post one image at a time.]

(1 of 5) Current version of CCleaner I am using:

(2 of 5) Notice of OneDrive update need plus overlay from OneDrive showing its version is what CCleaner wants to update to. This seems to be the underlying issue where CCleaner is wrong about which OneDrive version is installed.

(3 of 5) Notice that the update is in progress.

(4 of 5) Error code 4 notice.

(5 of 5) Additional information about update failure.

Thank you for these screenshots and log files, I have passed thse to the development team to review and I will follow up when I have an update.

@regnrand, to help us figure out what’s happening in Software Updater, please also send these additional logs:

  1. In the folder C:\Program Files\Piriform\CCleaner 7 create v4Debug.dat file.

  2. I have uploaded the zipped file as an attachment. Simply unpack it and copy it to the C:\Program Files\Piriform\CCleaner 7 folder, then proceed with step 5. If that doesn’t work, create the file manually.

  3. Click with the right mouse button and select New > Text Document.

  4. Named it v4Debug.dat and saved it.

  5. Open CCleaner and go to Software Updater.

  6. Try to perform the update again

  7. Go to C:\Program Files\Piriform\CCleaner 7

  8. Search for all v4DebugInfo_.log files in the folder.

  9. Pack them and attach the files to a reply to this email.

If you encounter any difficulties, please let me know which of the steps you were unable to complete.
