Error 0x6 Trying To Update CCleaner

Been trying to install version 5.92.9652 from version 5.88.9346 for a couple of weeks. Getting above error code “The handle is invalid “. Not very user friendly. HELP. Please

try uninstalling the version of ccleaner that you have installed and then doing a clean install of the latest version of ccleaner.

lots of people are seeing problems with updating ccleaner, lately. hopefully, one day, someone at "ccleaner" will look into the issue.

which version of windows are you using? if you are using windows 7, that could be part of the problem.

@ameWare: Is this from downloading CCleaner 5.92 from the website, manually updating from within CCleaner after clicking "check for updates", or using automatic updates?

I've tried using the automatic update mode and that does not work. Been busy and will try your suggestion of uninstalling/reinstalling hopefully tomorrow. Thanks!

Not impressed with the CCleaner techinical staff at this point and may reconsider spending any more time/money with their product!

This is a user forum, have you already tried sending tech support an email at support@ccleaner.com if you have pro you get priority support included

I think Dave was trying to track down where the problem lies.

If you are still having problems then download the 'Slim' installer, 3rd one down here: https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

Once downloaded double-click it to install CCleaner, you'll get v6.00 now.

Don't uninstall first, that way the new install will pick up your existing Pro Licence.

If you do uninstall first then you will have to use your registered name/key again to re-register the new install (so make a note of them before uninstalling).

The Slim installer usually works when the Standard installer (or updating from within CCleaner) has problems.

We are seeing that some users are having issues with the automatic updates not being delivered as requested. The developers have built in work-arounds for a number of these cases, but in some situations the problems persist. We're keen to get details of the system configurations of users who continue to be impacted (Windows version, Windows security settings, debug logfiles, AV/firewall in use, etc) so that we can develop some fixes. Any assistance that you can provide in this regard would be most helpful.
