Enhance keyboard navigation in CCleaner UI

Hi everybody,

I just joined this forum, but I'm a long-time user of Piriform's products, particularly CCleaner. One item to add to this ongoing wish-list: that keyboard navigation be made easier in CCleaner UI.

There used to be a time when there was a key-letter in all active buttons, and you could navigate from one item to another without using your mouse, only your keyboard.

In the latest CCleaner iteration (4.11.x), strangely, those buttons still retain their key-letter in Windows Server 2008, but not in Windows 8.1.

Maybe I missed something?

Also, can someone tell me why Alt-F4 won't close CCleaner, same as it does any other Windows application? I always have to use the mouse (again) to close it.

Again, this only happens in Windows 8.1, not in Windows Server 2008 (I use CCleaner on Terminal Server).

As regards the Alt F4 issue I don't think this is a CCleaner issue it seems to be more of a Windows 8.1 issue and toggling the fn lock key perhaps.

Hi hazelnut,

Thanks for taking the time to answer me! I agree it's a strange issue, because on the server running Windows 2008 R2, I don't have that kind of problem, but I do a lot of things with the keyboard, and it really drives me, well, nuts...

I've installed this nifty little portable app called Clavier+ (French stuff, I understand: clavier is French for keyboard), that'll let you customize your keyboard shortcuts. I've assigned "Ctrl-Q" to emulate "Alt-F4" system-wide, and it works everywhere (even to close a Windows session or log off from the server), but not on Piriform products (I've also encountered this problem with Speccy, for example).

Is there anything specific in the way Piriform writes their UI that'll prevent a user from closing their apps with the Alt-F4 combo? That's really not my area of expertise...
