I'm not POSITIVE that this is a Ccleaner problem, but after running the latest version (222), I noticed that I can no longer click on an email link and have it invoke email. I am using Firefox 3.5.1 and gmail is my default mailer (at least I want it to be ). After a google search, I reinstalled Google chat and checked off that gmail should be my mailer for email link clicking but that didn't help.
I can't find where or how to set or reset this behavior. Again, I'm not sure it's related to ccleaner, but I think it's likely... Anyone have any advice?
This is my first post here, so I apologize if any of this is incorrect behavior...
Thanks, did that. What I get when I click on an email is "mailto:xxx" in the status line at the bottom of the browser window, but no mail window pops up....?
I will install the latest update, thanks!
Hi Rose, and welcome to Piriform.
I wonder if this setting in Firefox\Tools\Options\Applications would fix things, or is this what you have already tried?
By default in the drop down menu it's set to "mailto", whereas you need to select Googlemail.
EDIT: Just for info Rose, there's a security\stability update for Firefox 3.5.1 to 3.5.2
After setting it up in the Tools\Options\Applications window as shown, it works perfectly for me.
Even after running the latest CCleaner, including the the registry "Issues", it still works fine.
We could check that the setting is registering in Firefox configuration.
Type "about:config" (no quotes) in the address bar, and then enter "mailto" (no quotes) in the filter search window. In the list of items displayed, make sure of the following:
"gecko.handlerService.schemes.mailto.1.name" has "Gmail" in the value column.
"network.protocol-handler.external.mailto" is set to "true".
Well, thank you, Dennis! That did it. I had to toggle the "network.protocol-handler.external.mailto" value. It was set to false, not sure how or why and probably had nothing to do with ccleaner! But thank you anyway! And now I know about "about:config!
Thanks again!
