I have read the guide and instructions. They say cleanup will not remove useful material from files. I clicked analyze and all of my stuff (or so it seems) was displayed, including all of my songs which I store in My Music Documents files. When I clicked cleanup the box told me that files will be deleted and I had to OK that. I hope this doesn't mean that the music files will or may be deleted and I will lose all of my songs. I am unwilling to take a chance on losing my irreplaceable songs, so I have not proceeded with the cleanup. I will much appreciate it if someone can tell me what the cleanup will do to my music files, and whether my songs will survive the cleanup.
If the analyse step gives the correct path for your valuable music files then definitely don't run CC. Spend 20 mins and a couple of quid on CDRs and do a backup of anything you value, whether you use CC or not. Wait for someone to help you with your problem, I'm too kn****ed tonight.

Hi Ron, Welcome to the forums.
I am glad to see that you reviewed the list of things to be deleted.
Can you give us some snap shots depicting the files that we are talking about ?
Can you also give us snapshots of the Windows tab and Applications tab ?
You may have things stored in temporary places that should be moved before they are lost by using any cleaning method.
Best Wishes.

Hi Davey-I don't know if you got my reply. I am not sure how to send posts. I also do not know how to do snapshots or how to send them. Really appreciate your help.
OK, when you run an Analyse, what is shown as the full path of the music files? Run Analyse, right click in the results window, press Save to text file, and save the file. You can refer to this file later without running CC again, it will be safer. Cut and paste a few of the music file paths into your post.

Here are a few of my song files as they appear in analyze. All of the songs I am worrying about have the "\Recent\" feature. The songs appearing are some, but not nearly all, of the songs I keep in My Music Documents. I have been trying recently to transfer songs from My Music Documents to the pc library in my Creative Media Source 5 Player, and from that to my new Zen 8gb portable player device. Unfortunately my pc refuses to recognize my Zen, so I have not been able to transfer from the pc library to the Zen. It was suggested I clean up my computer and that is why I am involved in CC. It has just occurred to me that all of the songs in My Music Documents are backed up by Carbonite, so maybe I should plug that into my thinking. I will much appreciate any thoughts you have.

Hi Ron,
Good directions from Augeas and you followed them well.
That folder that you are worried about /Recent is a folder that each user has setup by Windows.
This folder contains "links" or "shortcuts". These are pointers to the actual files where your data (music in this case) is actually stored.
When you click Start > My Recent Documents you will see a menu of these links or a window that shows all these links.
Most users want this list removed when they "clean up". It does not remove the files that are pointed to, just the pointers.
This /Recent folder also has pointers to every file that you look at. Some users don't want other users to be able to see what they have been looking at. Big Deal for some, not for others.
The option in CCleaner is Cleaner > Windows tab > Windows Explorer > Recent Documents. If it is checked it will be cleaned and this is normal "default" setting.
Do not be embarrassed to ask any questions . This will prevent many mistakes. Believe me I was where you are now about a year ago. Post a New Topic in the Software forum about your problem with Zen. You will get help and also learn a lot on these forums.
Review these links as regards CCleaner before you do any cleaning. They will help save you some headaches.
You are not here by "accident"!!!
