It's almost the new year, and I would like reinstall Windows XP Media Center Version 2005 w/ Update Rollup 2 on my Gateway laptop, just to start anew. The Gateway OS CD that came with the laptop has a bunch of programs that I do not want to be installed when I reinstall the OS. I know that there are programs that allow somebody to add things to an Windows OS disk, but are there any programs/techniques to edit the OS CD so that I only install the OS without any annoying added programs?
You could try nLite which should be able to take out what you don't want.
nLite will ask for the install cd which it will copy to a sorting folder.
Once you have finished sorting then it will create an iso which is burnt to an install cd.
This is only a brief summary but it seems quite easy to do once you get the gist of it.
I have used nLite and vLite but by no means proficient at using them and I'll leave it up to you if you decide to try it out.
