Edge browser open when using Ccleaner

Why does Ccleaner think the Edge browser is still open when I use Ccleaner even though it's not open?

Try changing these 2 settings in Edge:

Hi arejfour:

I can confirm that one of my recent MS Edge updates (likely v103.0.1264.62, rel. 14-Jul-2022) automatically turned on my Startup Boost setting at Settings | System and Performance | System. I couldn't figure out why my CCleaner custom clean scan kept reporting today that MS Edge was still running until I opened Task Manager and saw there were multiple instances of msedge.exe running in the background even though I hadn't opened that browser for a few days.

As Nergal suggested in CC Cleaner tells me edge is Running but it isn't, make sure "Startup Boost" and "Continue Running Background Extensions and Apps When Microsoft Edge is Closed" are both turned OFF to ensure MS Edge processes don't continuously run in the background.
