Having run duplicate finder and removed lots of duplicate files (mostly .bmp's or links in flight sim) like an idiot I have completely ruined the graphics. Is it possible to recover the deleted files please? I did create a text file.

If the files you want to recover aren't in your Recycle Bin then it's time to use Piriform's Recuva program and see what it can do for you.
you will need to keep the PC's usage down to a bear minimum as you will be degrading your recovery chances.
if possible use another PC and download the portable build of Recuva to a USB stick and run it from there on your PC.
or if you have only screwed up your graphics, and not lost any personal stuff, perhaps all you need is to reinstall the graphics driver.
