Duplicate files are sometimes intended, and removing them can cause problems
Yup, I agree with Winapp2.ini, it's best to use a specialized duplicate finder (I use "Easy Duplicate Finder" ) because you can filter better and what have you (note, am in current discussions with TPFC to see if this program needs to be reclassified from freeware to trialware)
If finding duplicates steer very clear of any system or program files, especially any .DLL or .OCX files as messing with them will undoubtly break something.
As for images, and music files it's best to use a tool that can use checksums either CRC, MD5, etc., so you'll know for sure it's actually a duplicate when the checksums match - never go by filesize alone as that's a road to ruin.
Auslogics also has a free one which is pretty straight forward. I believe it compares a few different criteria including MD5:

Goood plug, TheWebAtom. I have at least a trillion pictures of my granddaughter, and the names and dates have gotten jumbled by various methods. I'll try out your app asap. Thanks.
Thanks for the post, WebAtom.
Love to try new apps!
