Did any of you here have any experience with: Smart driver updater? or even with the concept of updating old drivers with one program? is the procedure reliable or safe? [this particular program has backup option]

I don't somehow trust / like those programs, not quite sure if I've tested one yet, though. I remember one of my friends using that or similar software, gonna ask about it later.
I always update my drivers etc manually.
