Drive Wiper starts to wipe MFT free space even when not selected

Hi everyone.

Loving CCleaner apart from this annoying bug which affects both my Windows 8 machine and my mum's Windows 7 machine.

Every time I go to use the drive wiper to erase free space it starts by trying to wipe MFT free space first. This is despite the fact that the option is NOT selected in the options menu.

I wouldn't mind so much but wiping MFT free space seems to take an eternity. The estimated time left jumped from 10 minutes when I started it to over 20 hours (and increasing) an hour later and only a few percent complete.

This has been affecting me for a good while now (even after fresh installs of the latest version) and it means I am completely unable to use the drive wiper for what I want to use it for (to simply wipe the free space, NOT the MFT).

I have tried selecting the MFT option and then unselecting it, resintalling the program etc.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

The Wipe Free Space settings in Options/Settings are independent of Drive Wiper. DW runs a wipe MFT by default. If you want to run a wipe free space without wiping the MFT then set the relevant options in Wipe Free Space and run it by right clicking on Wipe Free Space in Cleaner/Advanced. After all this is not something you run every day, is it?

Ah, okay, didn't realise that cleaning the MFT was now the default option for drive wiper.

Thanks for the clarification.
