Drive Wiper non-functional

So I'm trying to wipe my drive and it won't let me - From the simple to Gutmann pass, my C drive is grayed out as is the Wipe button.

Please advise.

My OS is Vista Ultimate.

I see from your link that it's disabled "for safety reasons" - is that an option I can bypass? I plan on wiping and reinstalling Vista Ultimate. Yes C drive is my boot drive and the only drive on that laptop.

You can only 'wipe free space' on your OS drive whilst using it. You could of course destructively wipe/nuke the drive outside of Windows with tools like DBAN or even CCleaner Portable via a BartPE CD, etc.

Awesome thanks - gonna try DBAN

Make sure you physically unplug in the computer case any hard disks you don't want nuked!!!

If you're just going to re-install vista, couldn't you reformat with NTFS using the install disk? :)
