Drive Wiper - disk structure corrupted

I have been using Drive Wiper for a while but today I started it and it gave me a..."disk structure corrupted and unreadable"...message. Anyone know what that means? And all other features of CCleaner are working. Should I reinstall ccleaner?

Thanks...Bob

No, I don't think so. Is this problem consistent, or was it just a one-off? I should run a chkdsk to er, check the disk.

As this problem has little relationship to the original thread, I'll split it.

have run anti malware and anti virus also and nothing shows up.

Is the problem still occurring?

haven't finished the scans yet.....not doing it on my laptop...just the desktop....doing a custom scan with anti virus...taking a while.

disk check found four corrupt files that I could see....now drive wiper is running and I have not seen the message and it was popping up when the wipe first started....it will run a while now if it's cleaned up. Thanks for that suggestion...I will have to remember that. I have run the check disk before but I don't believe it ever showed any corrupt files.

I have been using Drive Wiper for a while

this is what corrupted or at least pushed the corruption toward happening

are you saying I shouldn't use it?...It's there to use for a reason. Why do you say that? I've been using it ever since I installed ccleaner.

Over wiping will cause your hard drive to go bad, you are starting to see the results of "using it for a while". You really should only run it if it is needed (such as after a format when selling the hardware)

OK...I see what you are saying...looks like I will not use the wiper unless it's really needed. thanks for the information.

Post the SMART data. Maybe disk is failing.

where do I find it?

Free and portable from a host I trust

Just unzip and use - no installation.

Neat program, Alan... thanks! :)

You are welcome

on the assumption your HD has had it's day in the sun and it's all downhill from here, please make sure you 1) are doing backups and 2) are doing them more regularly knowing you now have a potentially unreliable HD.
