Drive Wiper - after cleaning whole Drive "Drive is write-protected"

Hello,

i want to clean a whole hard disk (not only free space...) but drive wiper says, that the drive is write-protected.

This "error" appears at about 60% of cleaning process finished..?! What can i do?!

Best Regards

Wallewein

it isn't the PC's C:\ drive is it?

what about doing a Windows format of the drive, right click it in Windows Explorer or File Explorer depending on your OS, select Format and if you don't care about someone spenind hours trying to get back your data, do a Quick Format.

to reformat and over-write all existing data, untick the Quick Format box.

be prepared for it to take hours for a low-level (non-quick) format. rough guide, 500gigs - about 8 hours.

Hi!

no, it is not c:\ :) it is an external usb drive.

i have formated the drive (using quick format) before cleaning - quickformat worked fine - cleaning did not work - stopped at about 60% (after 6-7 hours) and gave me the error "drive is write-protected".

Now, i try to format the drive (NOT using quickformat...) and start a new cleaning with ccleaner.

you will get a report... :-)
