I've been using ccleaner ever since I could last remember and I love it, this is the first time I've had any problems. I was running a free space wipe while I was sleeping the power was interrupted and when I booted up most of my hard drives space was taken up. there is a file in C: named "3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06QDBGIVLEXFPRMQBD" and it is 192gb. I was thinking about what to do and my friend recommended I use chkdsk. has this happened to anyone and does anyone know what to do?
I believe that is a file that CCleaner uses while wiping the drive.
If the power was interrupted, the file would end up not being deleted that CCleaner uses, which is what sounds like happened.
So you should be able to delete it with no problems.
In the future, using an APC battery backup can help prevent problems like this from occurring.
Also, don't break what isn't broken.
While CHKDSK does work good sometimes, I have also ran it experimentally when I really didn't need to before, just for the sake of testing, only to have it mangle some of my good files & consider them lost fragments. As well as other problems.
Great when you need it, but using it excessively can cause problems!
