Above is an entry from winapp2.ini for Downloaded Installations. In Windows XP, there are two folders within the C:\WINDOWS directory that have similar names.
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations
- Installed .msi files (Windows Installer Packages) downloaded from the Internet as Updates for installed programs
- The .msi files are arranged in folders by CLSID (Class Identifier) number.
- What effect would deleting this file's contents have? Will these programs fail to update properly in the future if you delete these .msi files?
Downloaded .msi Files

- I am extremely hesitant to erase anything in Downloaded Installations, because I do not know what effect it will have on my installed programs -- both now and when I try to update them in the future.
- PKZIP has never been installed on my computer, so I do not know why it shows up here. Perhaps that one can be deleted, but I'm not sure of the others.
- On the other hand, if all can be safely deleted without detrimental effect to my installed programs (Microsoft Antispyware, B.I.S.S. Hosts Manager, CD Writing Wizard), then I can recover 40MB of disk space.
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
