Hi, can someone tell me if i can delete all the files that seem double after the double file searcher has shown the results or do i have to keep 1 of the results shown of each checked file. And if yes, which one is preferable...
The duplicate file finder I use also lists the original and the duplicate files and places a "tick" in the box of the file that can be deleted if required.
If you have searched for "exact duplicate" name/size/date created etc. it does not matter which one is deleted. My software app always places a "tick" in the box of the first listed one.
Just to be on the safe side, I double check each file before deleting them one by one.
Not necessarily true Tas. You could still delete the 'wrong one' from a folder a particular program is expecting it to be found in if it is a system file.
For personal files however, I would concur.

Now that is a statement that the Dup File Finder should plaster over the list of files it shows you.

OPPS! yes mta you are correct, thank you for pointing out my error. I should have said "personal files" only.
In my case I'm only attempting to locate large duplicate files, normally very large photo and video files which is easy for me as I use one HD for System & Apps and other HDD's for Data and only perform searches on the data drives.
So Jazzy my apologies for not being more specific with my opinion and thanks once again mta

Is the duplicate file finder that you use CC Cleaner? Methinks it is not.... because when I use (I am a noob user of CC Cleaner Pro as of yesterday) CC Cleaner it does not "tick" anything for me.
