Don't Trust Updates- 12/16/16

The last time I updated ccleaner to 5.23, it was unable to clean some of my files. I just (11/23/16) updated to 5.24, and it cleans all files. I really don't want to do another update because it's working properly now. Why fix it if it isn't broken? What is the point? Can I just keep the version that is working?

yes :)

if the version you use is doing all you need it to do, why change.

you'd only want a new version (of anything for that mater) if it offers a bug fix, has a new feature you'd benefit from or you just want to dip your toes in and keep abreast of the software changes.

some people find it easier to get each minor release and keep up with the software's development, rather than go from an old version to the latest and have a whole swag of changes to adjust to.

also, some software houses won't let you go from a really old version of their product to their latest.

there is no update path, you have to install the latest from scratch rather than over-the-top.

an example being MYOB, you can't go from v13 to v19 without temporarily installing and converting your company data file to v17 along the way.

that issue wouldn't arise if you went to v14, v15 etc as they came out.

but, whatever works for you. :)

Not trusting updates is a reason to keep the installer or ZIP files for a version of software you know is stable on your system.
