Or does this fall under the domain (no pun intended) of "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? Also if you do this, do you need to set both your router and your pc? As always, Thank You!
Probably the most interesting thing from the Wikipedia.org details I thought was this:
By collecting a list of malicious sites, OpenDNS blocks access to these sites when a user tries to access them through their service.
i smell security
Been using Opendns for a couple of days now things seem to be working fine with the net surfing a bit snappier.
Also deleted the two registry namespace entries taken from this Tweak XP link
Don't forget to export those reg values if you decide to delete them.Just in case.
Hey are you happening to use FastFox? If so you can see what your load times are. If you can check that for me and tell me the differences. If so then I can try to get my firewall to do this.Been using Opendns for a couple of days now things seem to be working fine with the net surfing a bit snappier.

Not using Fasterfox here and to be honest it is hard to tell if anything is quicker here as I have a fast connection.
All I can really go on is that there are no slowdowns and any speedups may just seem that way.
We really need an expert such as Eldmannen to test these things out.
LOL, Yeah, M$ TCP/IP Stack -vs- Linux TCP/IP Stack. Me personally, I think Linux would win. I've used both in the past. Linux in my opinion use less overhead then M$, it has a quicker response time.We really need an expert such as Eldmannen to test these things out.

Um, err, are you implying that Eldmannen might be biassed toward linux.
Gee, I have an inkling you may be right.
Hello All!
I've been running OPEN DNS for the past few days. So far it's been running great. The pages seem to be a lil more speedier. Also, I've updated my internet connection from 3mb to 10mb. So, in reality I can't really tell if it's OPEN DNS or my new speed upgrade.
I started using OpenDNS in early October because my ISP's DNS were completely rediculous - redirecting me to this "Earthlink-help" page. I didn't even have Earthlink!
Anyway, it works pretty well.
Looking around for some bootdisks using openDNS and got my first "Badware" warning page.
On clicking the Stopbadware link this came up.
So it's not worth the trouble of using? That's the first time I've heard of Bootdisk.com being a "bad site."
i just tried that and i didn't get that warning. are you sure it was OpenDNS that did it?

Don't really know.At the bottom of the page it states "advisory provided by Google" which I should have included in my screen shot.
False positive or someone got the shirts with Bootdisk.com and reported it as such?

It's a false positive, which I'm sure the site owners would like to know about! Even McAfee SiteAdvisor shows it as a green site with the all is o.k. checkmark.
In fact I just emailed the maintainer of the website to notify him of it.

i got a diffrent result when OpenDNS blocked a bad website. here it is.

Hmnn,must be Google?
it could be a firefox extension that you're using since that picture that you showed does not say OpenDNS anywhere.

I got the same result as Humpty and I don't use OpenDNS. When I searched for the term "bootdisk" Bootdisk.com was the first site listed and clicking it's link opens that "bad site" page.
