Disable Firefox password wipe

Hi,

friend of mine decided to clean up my computer with CCleaner, so he selected everything possible that could be selected. Guess what, exactly. All of my passwords are now gone, and I don't blame my friend for it, but CCleaner developers.

All of the selections you have there have a meaning, to remove unnecessary crap from the computer easily, especially in cases where the software doesn't allow such process. So tell me, are important personal information such as passwords considered "crap that should be removed" in your software? It looks like it is.

So my suggestion is, stick cleaning the stuff that really makes your computer filled with unnecessary files, and leave important information away from it. Passwords aren't crap, nor unnecessary information which should be cleaned. Leave that option for the software itself, or at least make it possible to hide such dangerous selection from the CCleaner menu. I really don't understand the goal of the mastermind who decided to add this in the software at the first place.

It is however a tickable box that can be enabled/disabled, it also helps to see the docs site before use.

I'd recommend backing up your Firefox settings regularly with something like FEBE, then you'll never again lose anything!

The saved password box is not checked by default, so I think the blame falls on your friend on this one. ;)

Yep. The blame falls on your friend since "Saved Passwords" is rather obvious as to its meaning and if it wasn't obvious to him, then he shouldn't have checked it. Fortunately Firefox passwords are saved in a single file. By chance do you have a backup of your computer from which you could restore that single file? Another option is to use System Restore to roll back your computer to a date and time before your buddy decided to overdo it with CCleaner.
