Digicam video backup problems

I have just recently got my first digital (photo) camera and have just tried to make a backup of my pics and video clips. I'm using CD BurnerXP Pro and backing up onto DVD-RW. It writes them all to the disc seemingly problem free and when I try to view my photos from the disc theres no problem. But if I try to watch the short video clips they are really stuttery, ie they pause briefly then jump every one or two seconds. The clips are Quicktime Movie format (.mov) and they stutter in both Quicktime and Real Player.

I am pretty certain they are written to disc ok because for some strange reason, if I let a clip play through once it will then play completely fine the second time. Plus I can copy the clips from the DVD back to my computer and the copied clips will play fine then too. They just won't play properly when read from disc first time.

Anyone any suggestions?

One piece of software I want to let you know about as a new digital camera user is google's picasa. With it you can easily edit, organize, back up, and share your pictures.(and many other things as well)

Trust me you will never want to fool with any other photo software again, especially the ones that come with most cameras. Oh and you can even put the videos from your camera in it and play them from there as well. :D

Ok sorry thats one of those programs that honestly should be on all computers. :D

I haven't used the real quicktime in a while now so I'm not sure if it does anything funky when reading videos from a disc. First thing I would try would be to download VLC media player and see if the same thing happens

when it trys to play them.

If thats not it, try putting the files on another cd and see if it will read it from there(just to make sure the disc isn't bad.) If thats not it something could be up with your drive.

picassa rules. i only use that for photos and stuff now, and its awesome. easy to send pictures to my blog, easy to burn disks, send pics in an email, etc. and a really user friendly format, nice looking to view, and has great options. its definately one of the "must have" programs out there.

cheers bro!

Ok, tried a few more things:

Tried Quicktime Alternative, that gave the same stuttery playback

Tried VLC player, that wouldn't play the clips (wouldn't even play the ones already on my PC which I know are fine)

Tried burning some clips onto another DVD and the same stuttery playback occurs when viewing them from the DVD. But once again I can copy them back to my PC and they work fine.

Anyone? Would it be worth trying a different burner, even though CDBurnerXP has always worked fine for me, and if so can you recommend a reliable one.

i use ace mega codecs pack to deal with all my issues like that. never had a problem since i found it. :)

not sure if it helps, but it worked for me (but one thing i have found is that different solutions seem to work for the same problem with people).

cheers bro! :)

Sorry I wouldn't have recommended another program if I would have known you had qt alternative. :(

As far as a burning program you could give cheetah dvd burner a try(thats what I use).

Its an awesome program and it hasn't ever given me any problems.
