I installed CCleaner and ran it through all the functions. I keep all my user files under C:/Save. The next day when I was looking for some pics, I found only the folders. All the files had been deleted. All the folders are still there, but several thousand files are gone. Every file in every folder. I ran Recuva and it only found 300+ files and was not able to recover any of them. Does the cleaner keep a log of what activity was completed?
No, no log kept unless you specifically create one at deletion time. I know you didn't suggest this, but CC would only empty user folders if they were added to the Include list, which I doubt that you've done.
Ok, I think I know what happened. I also ran Adwcleaner the same day. I think the problem started there. I'm looking at it now.
If you ran adwcleaner, do you have a malware infection? If so you need to seek professional help. You can find very good sites such a bleepingcomputer in a list in rule 10 of this forum rules.
It sounds like you need more looked into with that if it is the case.
