Deleting a startup entry

After deleting a startup entry, is there any way to recover the file?

Try Recuva, a file recovery tool by Piriform.

If you used the Tools->Startup section of CCleaner to delete it the answer is no!

---------------

Get into the habit of using either MSCONFIG (Start->Run->Type in: MSCONFIG) to disable startup programs that you may eventually want back, or use StartUpLite (freeware) which can disable those that are known to be bloated startup entries.

Also to make known good registry backups use ERUNT (freeware), which is tons faster than System Restore especially if you only need to restore the registry which would restore a missing startup entry in the registry, and undo registry changes for instance if you've installed some new software and wish to completely get rid of the registry changes it made.

What kind of Startup entry is it, and how did you delete it?

Reinstalling the software in question would be one way.

However, IMO a builded-in backup and/or a "deactivate (without delete)"

feature in CCleaner, for startup entries, would be very appreciate.
