Deleted excludes keep coming back from the dead.

Defraggler 2.07 refuses to let excluded items go.

I can add an item to excludes, but when I go back to delete the item, it deletes it, & I click ok.

Then, I exit Defraggler.

But every time I open Defraggler again, the file is added right back.

The only way I can permanently delete items from excludes, is to manually remove from the .ini file.

Can this get fixed, please?

* OS = XP Pro SP2

Devs would have to check if this also happened on a supported service pack as yours isn't one.

As hazel said. You may wish to upgrade to XP Pro SP3

A service pack wouldn't prevent Defraggler from remembering the changes to the .ini file, would it?

However, I will update later, sigh, just to check it out.

Thank you!

I suggest access/permissions issues.

You say it works when you delete from the INI (presumably under your direct authority)

What happens when you delete via Defraggler ?

Does that fail to remove the item from INI ?

NB Portable CCleaner updates its INI file when it is closed.

Could Defraggler have a Firefox phenomenon of a lingering process which prevents final closure ?

Should not be a permissions issue, due to running under full Admin access

What happens when I delete via Defraggler, is that it shows the line getting deleted, then I hit ok & then close Defraggler. But click Defraggler again, & it's back!

Yes, it does fail to remove it, because if it didn't, it would not keep coming back.

This was on a fully install, have not checked the portable version yet. Will have to try later & let u know what that does.

Firefox does not have a lingering process preventing it, because firefox/internet explorer/all web browsers are totally closed, & do not even show running processes in the task manager for them.

I am not saying that Firefox is lingering in this situation.

I am reminding you what Firefox + Addons can do,

and suggesting that if a Firefox.exe process is able to linger as a process whilst the window and task bar icon have gone,

perhaps this is not a firefox only capability - but that other applications, even defraggler, may have this same potential for aggravation

i am fully aware of this, which is always what I firstly check. Processes.

Of course, just to be sure, running an app like End it All 2 can ensure all killable processes are dead.

Still, the problem occurs...

Edit: Updated.

Problem still occurs in XP SP3
