Delete $PatchCache$ directory in Windows Installer directory?

Hello,

there is a $PatchCache$ directory in my WIndows 8 installer directory. Is it safe to delete this directory? It takes up to 600MB disk space.

PatchCache has been around since XP and I believe it's used to store certain updates you get through Windows Updates.

So although it can be deleted with seemingly no immediate effects, I think in the long term you may get Windows and other Microsoft problems (like with Office) when it comes to uninstalling/updating.

a lot like those $NtUninstallKB files.

in short, you could, but unless you really have to, leave them alone.

Perhaps allow Windows 8 to be around longer before blindly deleting stuff from the OS folder! ;)
