Defraggler uses a non-stop 8,8+ GB RAM
Reproduce:
1. Windows 7 64-bit 10 GB RAM
2. Defraggler 64 bit
3. Analyze 3 drives (2 TB + 3 TB + 2 TB)
4. Analysis completed

1. I am using for a long time. All version of the RAM usage maximum.
10 GB RAM - app use 90% RAM

Symptoms caused by scanning large drives with lots of files (analysis or defragmentation) drives
•Available memory is almost exhausted.
•The system file cache consumes most of the physical RAM.
•There is a continuous and high volume of cached read requests to the hard disk.
To work around this problem:
Defraggler forced to flush cache !!!
- When the system uses A LOT OF RAM (e.g. filecache) then the amount of "Standby" memory (See Resource Monitor) is very low. And that "Standby" memory is precisely the cached memory. That's why there're A LOT OF "cached read requests" to the harddisk, as well.
- I assume some other program interferes with Defraggler and makes Defraggler use so much memory.
- Install PcWinTech's Cleanmem. It reduces memory usage and let it collapse the filecache as well. The program also can tell you how large the filecache is. Some programs simply won't release file cache memory.

How many drives you have on file TOTALS?

I want developers to fix memory leak in Defraggler!
- Fixing memory leaks is not that simple. There's only a limited amount of things that can be done. Programs are/can be very complex.
- Defraggler does reduce it own memory usage. I have seen it happen. But it seems it happens only on systems with a limited amount of memory (512 MB ?, 1 GB ? 2 GB ?, ....... ).
- The filecache growing and growing is not a "memory leak".
- What option are you using ? Defrag entire (logical) disks ? Or are you only defragmenting fragmented files ? If you want to defrag entire drives then it makes perfect sense to cache as much files as possible in the file cache. Then it's no wonder the filecache grows and grows.
Defraggler64.exe requests and uses a large amount of memory, the size of the working set (the number of memory pages in the physical RAM) of the process increases.
these requests are continuous and unchecked, the working set of the process will grow to consume all the physical RAM.
Therefore, sufficient amounts of physical RAM are not available for other processes.
This problem occurs only in Defraggler -
other defragmentation tool developers have gone to their senses.
This is a critical situation that Disk Defragmenter use 9 GB or even more (depending on the amount of physical memory available in the system) and the developers should fix it as soon as possible.

- I am not a computer expert but I have enough experience with Defraggler to have a hunch of what could be going on (e.g. WorkingSet, Filecache, CPU, .......... etc.)
- No, I won't give you my HD details. It's not important.
- Giving more details (working set growing) is good. You still need to provide more details, though. What Defraggler option did you use ? Defragment (+ optimize) the entire disk ? Defragment the fragmented files only ? Does it occur with every defragment option ? What happens to the size of the filecache during defragmentation ?
That kind of details certainly will help the developers to see where they need to improve Defraggler.

2. Analyze 12,000 files - Defraggler use 15 MB RAM
3. Analyze 4,500000 files - Defraggler use 3 GB RAM
4. Analyze 18,000,000 files - Defraggler use 12 GB RAM
5. Analyze 50 milion files - Not posible OUT OF MEMORY
Compare:
Analyze 25,923,681 files (~ 26 milion files !) - O&O Defrag Pro use 64 MB RAM
Defraggler - 12000 MB
O&O Defrag Pro - 64 MB (Awesome!)
Other Defrag TOOL - Not Test
