In trying Defraggler and then trying another defrag tool, I found Defraggler to be VERY slow. Is this normal, or do I have some setting in Defraggler wrong? It was set to defrag files (the same as the other program). If I didn't have something set wrong, then can someone explain why there might be that much difference in the 'run time' between two different defrag programs that are doing pretty much the same thing?
John
Full defrag mode (DEFRAG) can be quite slow, specially with big partitions because it shuffles data a lot. I would advise to manually defragment files from the flie list tab.
After analysing, go to file list tab and put a check mark on the first tickbox for selecting all files shown or just defragment what you want.
Keep in mind that this mode WON'T FILL GAPS. It just defragments files (and folder entries if you have that option enabled in configuration). The other advanced options for forcing filling gaps (defragment free space) are both bugged and will introduce a lot of fragmentation more. Use them with caution.
