I have been using Defraggler successfully on one computer (XP 64-bit) with two partitions for quite a while, so I thought that I could spread the joy and try it on a different machine (Vista 32-bit) with three partitions.
However, on the Vista machine, while Quick Defrag works fine, the normal Defrag only achieves some 3% or so, regardless of the partition used, before it freezes entirely, i.e. even after hours, it indicates it is still working on the same file. The GUI is still responding, although canceling the defragmentation process does not work, either.
I have tried creating a debug log - however, even after canceling Defraggler after 20 seconds via the Task Manager, the file grew already to a whopping 800 MB in size. I have attached the beginning of that file as the remainder seems to be very repetitive. The repetitive message is:
002c0 1 VolumeBitmapCache::ReloadFromCluster#101 FSCTL_GET_VOLUME_BITMAP for handle 0x0000047c, lcn: -16777216 failed with error code 87
Just to mention, I have tried running as Administrator, have tried disabling Volume Shadow Copies / System Restore, disabling anti-virus software, checked the disks for errors etc., with no effect. The program just doesn't want to work on my Vista machine. Any help is greatly appreciated.
