Hi, I have been using Perfect Disk for a long time, now I found Defraggler and would like to know if it is safe to use it on a previously Perfect Disk defragmented disk. Are the algorithms the same, does Defraggler and Perfect Disk analyze the same way, is the fragmented space treated the same way in both programs, finally is it safe to use both programs.
If you're defragging the whole drive Defraggler will differ from PerfectDisk because it doesn't "optimize" the hard drive but if you're defragging individual files the algorithms will probably be quite similar. Both programs are safe to use. I used to use PerfectDisk and I would "optimize" the hard drive and when it got fragmented just defrag the specific files in Defraggler. But optimization is pretty pointless in my opinion; just kills your drive faster.
