Couple of weeks ago I downloaded and installed CCleaner and Advanced System Care. When I was through cleaning out my PC, using both cleaners, my monitor screen wasn't as bright as it should have been. So I adjusted the controls on the monitor and even went into the display options in the control panel. But no matter what I did, the monitor is still is on the dark side (I need contrast to go beyond 100).
I also had trouble with highlighted text, links. They just weren't as sharp as they were. Also, the black text on notepad files weren't nearly as sharp or dark as they were. In fact, parts of letters were barely visible. For instance, I can barely see the top and bottom of a capital letter O (Word is fine).
I sent an email to ASC and they said to do a system restore through the software. I did (getting some error messages) and that seemed to almost clear up the problem I had with links. But my screen is still a bit dark and Notepad text isn't what it was.
Dell sent me a link to upgrade a driver to the monitor but I'm waiting for them to reply to a question that I had.
So can anyone tell me how I can get my monitor and notepad to the way it was before I ran CCleaner and ASC?
No, there was nothing wrong with my monitor or video card before this.
Another problem I had was that when I opened a folder from the desktop, the window was mostly blank and the icons were outside the lower left of the window, in a scroll bar. I couldn't see them. I went into the Folder Options in the control panel and was able to get the windows back to what they were - icons displayed across the main portion of the window. But it's not the same. All I see are the icons. Before I was able to highlight a file/icon, and on the top part of the window (or side) I'd see when the file was created and its location. Does anyone know how I can get my folder windows back to what I had before running the cleaning software?
Oh, another problem I had was that some of my colors were screwed up. The blue color when you highlight text wasn't the same and also the "name tag" to desktop icons was also a shade different. But I was able to adjust them back to what they were - or close to it.
Using Windows 200.
Thank you.
P.S. The black text in this compose screen is fine. Seems that it's only Notepad that I'm having the problem with text that isn't sharp/dark as it was.
