Could not load Windows 10 after cleaning registry.

I've just wasted hours trying to get back into Windows after using the new Win 10 version of CCleaner to clean the registry!

My machine would get to the Dell logo and spinning wheel and sit there. I eventually left it for over an hour to no avail.

After that, Startup Fixer could not repair it so I loaded the registry editor from a command prompt and imported the backup made by CC. It imported successfully yet didn't fix a damned thing!

I'm now sitting waiting for a refresh of my Windows to finish, after which I shall have to reinstall everything.

What a joke! I was so impressed with all of the features and would have tried them all and then bought the program. Instead, I shall now be warning people to stay away.

Wow, so eve a couple of Windows refreshes did not resolve the issue. I am now having to wipe, reinstall Windows and start over. Way to speed up my machine! What a piece of junk,

although no help to you @Michlo, hopefully this is a cautionary tale to others on the inherent dangers of cleaning your registry.

even using a cleaner as light handed as CC.

it also should act as a wake up call as to the importance of backups.

sorry to hear about your sad news, hope you get it all back up soon.

That's why when I ran the CCleaner registry cleaner on my mother's Win10 Dell laptop I only had it remove references to the McAfee security suite I previously uninstalled in favor of Windows Defender, and since I didn't know about most of the stuff (unique to Win10) that was listed in the registry cleaner I didn't bother letting it delete them.
