Continuous unwanted renewal attempts

i have contacted this company many times recently about trying to take money for unwanted renewals. i had a free trial several months ago that i cancelled before the end of the trial. i even turned off the auto renewal option. for several months now they keep trying to take renewal amounts for ccleaner even though i have told them i dont want it. i have repeatedly asked them to remove my details from the system and not to mtry to charge me again. they repeatedly tell me everything is cancelled and will not renew but then the next month they do it again and when i check the account i see a further trial has been setup in my name. i have not set these up but someone is and im sick of going in circles with both piriform and cleverbridge. has anyone got any idea how i can permanmently stop them from doing this please before i go insane

Where a company is not listening then you need to complain to the consumer protection regulator in your country (if there is one).

Do a websearch for “consumer protection” or “consumer advice” adding the name of your town or country.

It’s not much help to you here but in the UK there are new laws coming into force in spring 2026 which will make such ‘subscription traps’ unlawful,
hopefully more countries will quickly follow.

thank you. im in uk also. its just so annoying having to repeat myself every month. they each say to contact the other party. cleverbridge say to contact ccleaner but ccleaner say they have no record of this. i have sent a SAR to both of them weeks ago but had no reply. i cant even check the account as it immediately goes to add new card details but im not doing that for them to try to take my money again. the only info i can find is that this free trial was activated the same day that i asked them to cancel everything and to remove my banking details. neither of them have removed my details yet

I suppose that you could try asking your bank to put a block on any payments requested by Cleverbridge.

Be aware though that many software companies use Cleverbridge to collect payments - so blocking them could cause other problems.

yeah i had that issue before. i cant even lodge a complaint with the bank as long as the payment is showing as pending. i had to wait until they took the money and then lodge a complaint. im just sick of doing it every month. i have contacted the consumer rights but im not holding my breath waiting for them to reply. what confuses me is that ccleaner say i have no active subscriptions, licences or free trials but then my bank says differently as they are still trying to take payments for ccleaner

Until they can take a payment from you the system says that you haven’t paid, and so nothing is active.

In other words you are not an ‘active’ customer, they are trying to make you one by taking your money, even though you don’t want that.
