Content.IE5 folder?

Hello,

I have a question regarding my Temporary Internet Files.

I stopped using Internet Explorer because i prefer Chrome. I use CCleaner frequently. However when I use CCleaner it says it cleans from the folder

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\

What is the Content.IE5 folder? I know its hidden, but even though I have my settings to show hidden folders, I manually have to type in the file paths. Why is my system storing info here when I don't use internet explorer what so ever? I notice this file appears when-ever I open CCleaner.

I have ran a malwarebytes, avast, and adwcleaner scan and came back with nothing.

Thanks

also im running version 5.30.6065 (64-bit)

a lot (maybe all) MS software dumps crap into that folder, Skype, Defender, Windows Live Mail, and the list continues.

Why is my system storing info here when I don't use internet explorer what so ever?

It's part of the OS therefore even if you don't open the IE browser yourself its back-end is still getting used for things on the system. Whenever you open for instance a folder, etc., it can also cache in History.IE5. Just run CCleaner to keep those areas clean.
