I run the free space wipe on my C:/ and ever since my computer takes over 10 minutes just to start and just about the same to do anything once its on. It just makes a slow ticking sound.
Any ideas what has happened to it and/or how i resolve it?
If your drive is making a ticking sound, move everything off to another drive. Don't wait, back up all your files now. Harddrives don't make ticking sounds until they are almost ready to die.
Could be that your drive was about to die, & after you ran the drive wipe, it just reached it's final leg, much like someone might be alive today, then die tomorrow.
Back up all your important data to a flash drive, external harddrive, cd, dvd, whatever, just do it. Before the drive kicks the bucket.
After you do this, check to be sure that CCleaner eliminated the files it used to clean the drive, and that your free space is normal.
