Completely computer illiterate; Can this be done?

My question may be a repost and I apologize. I have been reading for quite a long time and have a huge headache and still have no answer. I know next to nothing about computers, but I do not want to screw ours up...

I am just starting to do some ebaying and DO NOT want to lose any business or transactions, so I need to make sure whatever I do will not hurt that end of my computing... I do a fair amount of gaming through Facebook and have noticed that it causes serious computer lag. I was just doing the simple "delete of temporary file", it was not enough. YOU ALL ARE GREAT!!!! The computer sings now.. I want that all the time. Is there a way to get this program to run all the time while I am on Facebook, to delete all the garbage it deposits (pictures, temp.files, etc)? It would also run while I am mocking up my posts for ebay and I do not want to lose any of my templates or ads or any Ebay info period.... Any suggestions??????

Please write back to me as if I am a 7th grader, because in computer land I am probably more like a 3rd grader.....LOL

Thanks-

Michelle

PS- we run 2 different computers so I am asking for info on Microsoft XP using both FF 3.5 and IE and the other computer is Microsoft 2000 running both browsers as well..

Hi Michelle, and welcome to Piriform.

Running CCleaner constantly in the background isn't possible I would think, nor really desirable, but I've a better suggestion for you.

Sandboxie:

My daughter uses Facebook, and I insist she uses it with a Sandboxed browser.

There's information on the Sandboxie site, and plenty of members here use it, so after having a read up about it, post back with any queries you have, ( doesn't matter how many) and you'll get plenty of input.

Hope that helps.

Also it would be pretty pointles running ccleaner when the browser is open, since it would not be able to delete any of the temp files faebook creates
