Close Browser Before Cleaning

Other system and history cleaners I have used warn if browser is still running or offers an auto shutdown of browser before cleaning feature. Could this maybe be a part of future CCleaner versions.

Often when you think you have closed your browser it can still be running.

It warns about Firefox running, I don't know about other browsers though. Make sure in Options->Advanced that you have the box "Hide warning messages" unticked.

For instance when just running an Analyze with Firefox currently running it displayed this in the cleaning window:

Firefox cache cleaning was skipped.

Thanks for your reply.

I am using internet explorer and even if I keep it open on purpose no warning is given when I do a clean.

I do have box "Hide warning messages" unticked.

what are your CC, IE and OS versions?

CC 4.02.4115 (64bit)

IE 9

Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)

Is that what you asking for?

Actually Internet Explorer never closes,

it is the mask on the face of the Trident engine that is part of Windows,

and whilst Windows is running so is Trident.

Third party browsers such as Firefox and Palemoon can be closed and CCleaner warns and can close.

I assume this is also true for any other third party browser which is supported by CCleaner.

This is a little confusing to me.

I have a couple of other cleaners I can use that tell me when Internet Explorer is running and

offer me the option to close it for me for a proper cleaning.

Even when I exit Internet Explorer sometimes it remains running, but not always.

Wouldn't this mean that if I was not warned by the cleaner I would not get a proper clean?

ccleaner is able to clean ie without closure. ie uses seperate files as opposed to the combined databases that other major browsers use.
