Cleaning settings.

Can I choose when CCleaner cleans my files ?

I would prefer the cleaning to take place at the end of a session, rather than at the startup.

All advice appreciated. :)

Thank you for the response.

I am making no apologies for being a bit "thick", but is "Auto Shutdown" and "CCleaner cleaning my files at shutdown" the same thing ?

Hi Cranfield, and welcome to the forum.

"Auto-Shutdown" means you click the CCleaner shortcut, it runs and then automatically shuts the computer down.

A one click alternative to running CCleaner, waiting for it to finish, and then manually shutting down.

Thank you for the clarification, I doesn't look as though Auto Shutdown answers my question.

All I want is for CCleaner to clean my files when I shut my PC down, rather than when I start it up.

I don't want to have to manually start the cleaning process.

I am sure it use to do this, but I can't find the appropriate box to tick.

Perhaps this will help http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/setup-ccleaner-to-automatically-run-each-night-in-vista-or-xp/ (this works fro Win7 as well) instead of a certain time perhaps you can set the task to occur at shutdown. . . that said sometimes ccleaner will take a few min which may hamper shutdown from happening (i'm not sure, I only manually run my ccleaner)

Well, this is the answer to your problem.

When you Click Shutdown, Windows closes all running applications, so that means it won't be possible to run CCleaner.

With this, you can just run CCleaner, and automatically have Windows shut down after CCleaner has done its job!

Hello, CCleaner has never had the ability to detect system shut down. If you think for a second about the possible dangers of this.

System is shutting down, CCleaner detects this, trys to force system to stop shutting down. While trying to perform what could be a a long task. Then continue to shut down. It would not be practical for an application to do this. Even though it is possible.

ooooo I like the way Ishan thinks so combine mine (task scheduler) with his /autoshutdown and that is how to shut down with ccleaner automagically

CCleaner has only ever had the current "Auto Shutdown" feature.

I have a CCleaner shortcut in my quick launch area. One click runs CCleaner and shuts down my computer.

I don't need to open CCleaner to do this. Once the quick launch shortcut is clicked, CCleaner runs in the background, with only a flashing icon showing in the system tray. When finished, it shuts your computer down.

The only way I could do that more economically would be to do it telepathically.

Well, you've got me bamboozled for sure. :)
