Precisely what process did you have to stop,
and what version number were you upgrading from,
and which flavour do you use, e.g. Full, Slim, etc.

i had to stop ccsetup 303 the exe. file that is still on my desktop
not positive which version i had previously,3.2?, because i uninstalled it <i thought that would help>
what flavor? whatever was offered i don't remember having a choice.
Hopefully you downloaded the official version,
and not from one of the rogue sites that merely pretend to be supplying CCleaner
This is our main download page
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
In the middle are links to Download from either FileHippo or Pirifom.
That give you Standard
At the bottom is a link to "Build Page"
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
This gives the Standard Installer plus 3 others, including SLIM.
I always use the Portable - never a problem.
Standard includes the ability to PERMIT a Google/Yahoo/Whatever toolbar,
and I believe a recent change to the Whatever toolbar means that if permitted it requires Internet Access,
possibly causing grief.
The Slim build will avoid that.
Alternatively FileHippo includes the old versions,
which hopefully will install again even if your system is not compatible with the current latest version

THANKS A LOT!!!
i installed the slim ver. it installed in seconds.
ran it.good to go!
i believe i linked it originally from the File Hippo update checker.which is usually very reliable.
this forum is great, i usually get a response within hours of a rarely encountered problem with piriform products
thanks again
