When selecting "check for updates" from within the application UI, IE is always launced even though the default browser set for my system is Firefox. Is there a setting internal to CC or a registry value I am not aware of that can be changed to launch the system's default browser?
In order to help you better, please list the following:
- OS + whether it is 32 or 64 bits + Service Pack # (if applicable)
- Program your updating (CCleaner/Defraggler/Recuva/Speccy)
- IE & FF version #
Firefox 10 is default on my 32 Bit 7, & CCleaner + Defraggler always correctly open Firefox when I click "Check for updates"
Very old issue this one, several threads going back years this is one of them
It opens my chrome. This is a rather recent development for me though.
Thanks all for the links/suggestions. I followed one of the suggestions and from the CL I entered:
firefox.exe -silent -nosplash -setDefaultBrowser
and that seemed to do the trick.
For reference I am on XP-SP3, Firefox 10.0.2.
Thanks for posting back and letting us know what worked for you.
