Changing Enviornment Variables (Temp, etc) - Will CCleaner Find?

Hello all,

1) In the interest of minimizing read/writes on my SSD, I'm planning on moving both user and system TEMP and TMP variables to point to a directory on a magnetic drive. Will CCleaner find them properly after I've moved 'em?

2) Likewise, I'm moving the location of IE's Temporary Internet Files. Again, will CCleaner find the location as set from within IE?

Thanks in advance folks! :)

CCleaner should find them if you change the variables via Windows own settings itself, since that's how CCleaner is finding them anyways such as all the User Profile Temp folders, etc.

On my XP system the Temporary Internet Files folder is not mapped the same as an environment variable, so I don't if changing that will work or not. However you could try it and see what happens however I'd recommend making a System Restore Point first.

Or you could create a junction point where they *would* be, CCleaner should handle that correctly.

I'm confused as to why you want to move Temp from a lightning fast SSD to a traditional drive. The point of an SSD is to enjoy the massive speed improvements; not find creative ways to introduce new bottlenecks.

Contrary to popular belief; SSD's are not so volatile that typical Temp/Cache IO writes will significantly reduce their lifespan.
