CCleaner7 Software Update Tool is flagging FileZillaPro as FileZilla Free and wants to update

CCleaner7 will not clear FileZilla from program updates even though reg keys and files are clean. Free version was uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller Pro. Here is my PowerShell.

Please follow these steps to help us investigate the issue:

  1. Download and install the CCleaner Support Tool using the link below:
    https://download.ccleaner.com/CCleanerSupportTool.exe
  2. Replicate the issue on your end.
  3. Run the tool to generate the logs.
  4. At the end of the process, you’ll receive a 5-digit File ID.

Please share that File ID with me so I can review the logs and investigate further.

Hi Laurence:

Sir I have debugged this and can tell you exactly what the issue is, as you can see from the path below both Filezilla Free and Pro share the same EXE. CCleaner is unable to differentiate that the user is using the Pro version that can be fully updated with a version different than the free version. If you can just remove this from your update catalog it would be great.

Just an update. FileZilla has updated their pro version so it has cleared CCleaner. Unfortunately when CCleaner checks the EXE and only the Pro version is installed and the pro version lags behind the free version, CCleaner actually installs the free version that contains PUA. Kind of makes it a CAdder :slight_smile:

If you experience this issue again, please follow the steps above and send me the 5-digit file ID for the log files, and I can request the development team review this and investigate what changes can be made to prevent the issue.
