CCleaner64.exe using 25% processor & can not be terminated.

v5.35.6210

Can not be terminated using process explorer. It randomly runs the processor to 25% - why is it staying resident anyway? I had to block it from accessing the internet - I don't want it to check for updates but once it runs to 25% the only way to kill it is to reboot. Why on earth has CC recently been such a problem - the good reputation it earned has been destroyed after the way it was hijacked.

are you using the Free or Pro version of CC?

if you have Monitoring enabled, that would explain the resident process.

like any good software, it attracts the sort of person who wants to tarnish that reputation.

if you think the reputation has been destroyed, what are your thoughts on Yahoo, Dropbox, iCloud, LastPass, Hotmail, Gmail, Microsoft, Android, Sony, Home Depot, US Postal Service, and the list continues.

you could argue that there are only two types of software users - those that know they have been breached and those that don't. :)
