CCleaner563 Install Problems

Just downloaded latest version of CCleaner563 version 5.63.0.7540 and attempted to install. No luck , downloaded again and attempted to install using run as administrator.

Still did not install or give any indication of activity. Reinstalled CCleaner562 with no problems.

Did you see any error message(s)?

Turns out that CCleaner563 is being blocked by Windows Defender "Smartscreen" filter but no warning message was issued on my desktop. Found out this when I attempted to install the CCleaner563 on my laptop and the warning message was issued. Turned off "Smartscreen" for apps on Desktop and successfully installed. Windows 10 Pro - About ready to completely disable Windows Defender .

Microsoft Stikes Again !!!

I had the same when installing it yesterday, I just told smartscreen to ignore it and carry on running the installer.

It's a button when SS throws a block, there should be no need to turn it off.

The block will be simply becase it's new and MS haven't added it to their filters yet.

I have sort of the opposite problem. i keep getting a prompt saying update available, wanting to install 5.63.7540..

just one problem.. i already HAVE 5.63.7540.. (according to my program that is running at least)

any idea why the thing keeps trying to foist an update that is already installed? (pro version, manually running update check from program says latest installed)

I'm not sure why it should be doing that, it's unlikely but possibly be something to do with this?

we first re-signed a clean update of the product, pushed it out to users via an automatic update on October 15, and second, we revoked the previous certificate.

There was a widely publicised download link to an advance copy of 5.63 before it was officially released, I suspect that would have had the old certificate so if you do have that one it may be shouting because the security certificate is not the latest?

Again that's just a guess on my part.

Personally if I was seeing update messages like you are then I would simply download a new copy of the 'slim' installer from the builds page and (re)install that, hopefully that will set the flag to say that you do have the latest version and stop nagging you.

We have two sets of updates running at once to 5.63 - possible that they both hit at once and one got queued after the other. We'll investigate to make sure that the update alerts haven't developed a stammer, but in the meantime let us know if it happens more than once.

Happened again today.. seems to happen at least once a day.. (windows toast popup saying update available, quoting version that is already installed)

when you open the program, then click check for updates, it says latest version already installed.
